Lake Argyle WA
Lake Argyle is Australia’s 2nd largest artificial lake. Located 3 144 km n-e of Perth, it forms part of the Ord River Scheme in the Kimberley region of WA. It is also Australia’s 2nd largest reservoir with a usual storage capacity of close to 6 million megalitres. As a result of the scheme, completed in 1970s, Lake Argyle has developed a thriving eco system with about 25 native fish species and a healthy freshwater crocodile population of some 25 000.
